Dr. Chun’s Dental Mission Work in Guatemala
I’m Dr. Minna Chun, one of your endodontists at Root 66 Endodontics in Corona, CA.
This past Spring, I had the privilege of going on my second dental mission trip to Guatemala with the UCLA Christian Medical Dental Association in conjuction with the Agape Dental Missions and Monte Sion Center teams.
Agape Dental Missions was founded on faith-based principles with a mission to serve underprivileged communities around the world.
This year we served people in the town of Tecpan in the rural part of Chimaltenango, Guatemala. Last year, we served the people of Zarazoga, Guatemala.
During our time in Tecpan, we were able to provide much needed care, including root canal treatments, fillings, extractions, cleanings, and medications for adults and children who lined up every morning to receive dental care. Many of our patients had not seen a dentist in years and for many of the children, it was their first time getting dental care.
I also had a great time teaching UCLA dental students throughout our clinic time. I had an incredibly rewarding experience traveling to the beautiful country of Guatemala and meeting so many memorable people including our dental patients, dental students, dentists, and volunteer staff who make these mission trips possible.
Together, we were able to serve hundreds of people in need and restore smiles around the world!
